We have the following calls.  (3) Journeyman wiremen to GUBMK at Bellefonte Nuclear Plant for the power service shop. This is a staff augmented call. You must be able to climb scaffolds 80 to 100 ft. also, Must be able to work in physically restricted  and confined areas (small manholes). You will report Thursday March 11th at 9:00 a.m.  The job is on a 4-10 shift and could last until August.  ALSO (6) Journeyman wiremen to Day & Zimmerman NPS at Watts Bar Nulear Plant for Modifications Unit 1.  You  will report Monday March 15th at 7:00 a.m.  Both calls require a Drug test and OSHA 10. 

 

 Book 1 callout is at 9:oo AM. Following Book 1 callout, the recorder will be reset only if there are calls available. If calls are available, Book 2 callout will be held at 2:00 PM. Remember, if the recorder does not answer, there are no calls.

Please note there is an IBEW basic dues increase to $28.00 Jan. 1, 2010.

On the Inside, we currently have 179 on Book 1 and 1110 on Book 2.

Bechtel Unit 2 project hiring has started.

Information on VW plant: starting slow. Lawson Electric has received a large contract also we have 6 other contactors on site.

Work coming slow on Alstom Project (Downtown)

Outside
Work on the Outside is slow. We have 36 Linemen on Book 1 and 11 LInemen on Book 2. Linework is slow in our jurisdiction. We anticipate this to continue for the immediate future.

IBEW Local 175 Referral System

Effective  December 3, 2007

1.     Initial sign-in shall be in person at the Local Union office.

2.      Referral sign-in shall be allowed at any time during normal operating hours of the Local Union business office (including lunch hour).

3.   All available calls will be listed on the recorder and the website after 5:30pm each day. Book 1 callout will be held at 9:00am. Book 2 calls, when available, will be listed as soon as possible following Book 1 callout. Book 2 callout will be held, as necessary, at 2:00pm 

4.   Applicants for referral will report to the Local Union auditorium at 9:00 am (when jobs are available) where they will sign in on a "day book". You must be present to be eligible for a referral to work. Applicants will be referred for employment in the order they are registered on the out-of-work list. See #3 above for Book 2 calls

5.   The Local Union is responsible for filling calls in a timely manner as needed by employers. Emergency referrals may have to be made outside normal hours using whatever means are available to fill calls and place registrants. 

6.   Registrants will be allowed two (2) turndowns without penalty and be moved to the bottom of the out-of-work list for a third turndown.

Re-Sign Procedure  Revised August 1, 2009

1.    Applicants shall be required to re-sign annually during the month of August. If you were on IBEW Local 175's out of work list August 1, 2009, you have been resigned and will remain on the list until August 2010 unless you accept a call for work that for longer than 14 days. In the event you accept a call for longer than 14 days it is your responsibility to call and have your name removed from the out of work list.  

2.   Re-sign shall be in person only and during the month of August.

3. When you become unemployed you must come to the Union hall to re-sign in person. This is the same as your initial signing.

1 month - $28.00             3 months - $84.00

6 months - $168.00     12 months - $336.00

Discharge For Cause

Any individual who is discharged two times for cause within a (12) twelve month period, shall have their future referral privileges suspended until they appear before the Appeals Committee for a determination as to their continued eligibility for referral.
